Top five recommended street foods to eat in Myeongdong

Myeongdong (명동) is a suburb located in Seoul, well known as a shopping district. However, it is at night when the food stalls are out, that tourists are attracted to the area.

In Myeongdong there are more than 50 different Korean street food items that you can try. My top five recommended street food eats are listed below!

1. Tteokbokki (떡볶이)
Tteobokki are spicy rice cakes. These cylindrical shaped rice cakes are lathered in red pepper paste and served with fish cakes and eggs.

2. Hotteok (호떡)
These are dessert pancakes. They are slightly crisp on the outside with a sugar syrup filling on the inside.

3. Gimbap (김밥)
Gimbap is similar to the Japanese sushi roll, but with some variations. Korean gimbap uses a variety of ingredients including ham, crab meat, vegetables, pickles etc.

4. Sundae (손대)
Sundae are sausages made out of cow or pig's intestines. They are boiled/steamed and mixed with other ingredients to make a sausage.

5. Jajangmyeon (짜장면)
This is a Korean fast food staple that is quick and easy. It is a Korean-Chinese noodle mixed with a black bean sauce and served with pork mince and vegetables.

Hope you try some of these one day ;)
